Conductor and Flexibility

5 class 5 copper conductor, made up of many fine strands rather than a rigid core. This makes it much easier to pull through tight conduit or route around bends in a crowded trench, and it reduces the risk of insulation stress from forced bending during installation.

Fire Resistance and Temperature Rating

A mica tape layer sits under the insulation as a fire barrier. Combined with X-HF-110 (XLPO) insulation, the cable is rated for continuous operation up to 110°C - a real margin over standard 90°C cable when it's routed through a poorly ventilated tunnel or a hot industrial area.

Low Smoke Zero Halogen Sheath

The HFS-110-TP (LSZH) outer sheath produces minimal smoke and no halogen acid gas if it burns. That keeps visibility and air quality better during an evacuation, which is why LSZH is the default choice for subways, basements, and other enclosed public spaces.

Standards and Core Identification

Manufactured to AS/NZS 5000.1, AS/NZS 1125, AS/NZS 3808, and AS/NZS 3013. Core colors follow AS/NZS convention: red/white for 2-core, red/white/blue/black/green-yellow for 4-core+earth - matches what most Australian and New Zealand project specs ask for directly.

Where It's Used

Urban tunnels, underground utility runs, and industrial pump stations - anywhere space is tight and fire risk matters. The flexible conductor cuts installation time in cramped trenches, and the 110°C rating gives it headroom under sustained heavy load without derating.

Manufacturing and Certification

We adjusted the extrusion process specifically for this flexible stranded conductor, so the insulation bonds tightly to the strands instead of leaving small gaps where moisture can wick in over time - a common weak point in lower-grade flexible cable. This batch holds DNV and ABS type approval for this exact cable construction, and every reel is voltage-tested and resistance-tested before it ships, with reports kept on file.

FAQs

Q: Does the flexible Class 5 conductor shorten the cable's life in damp soil?

A: Not if the sheath stays intact. If anything, the flexibility helps - it gives the cable some give when the soil settles slightly, instead of cracking the way a rigid conductor might under the same stress.

Q: Can this replace rigid mineral-insulated (MICC) cable?

A: For most applications where the concern is smoke and flame spread rather than surviving direct flame at extreme temperature, yes - this cable meets AS/NZS 3013 fire performance and is considerably easier and cheaper to install than MICC.

Q: Is this cable suitable for direct burial?

A: Yes, that's its intended use. If it runs through a section with its own fire compartment rating, check that rating against this cable's LSZH and mica tape performance rather than assuming general underground cable is automatically compliant.
